DEBORAH O'BRIEN

ABOUT ME
CLIENTS
I grew up in a small town in the middle of British Columbia, Canada and fell in love with the art of editing in high school. In my early teens and twenties I worked in customer service, which has greatly influenced my approach to working with clients and fellow videographers.
I studied film and electronic media design and have volunteered with the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada. I started out as an assistant editor for the award winning documentary filmmaker Judy Jackson for her documentary: Ungrateful Dead: In search of International Justice and then joined the online retailer MADE.COM where I created video content until I decided to go freelance after the birth of my first child in 2016.
(When I have (had) free time) I enjoy editing on independent projects with friends such as the Nollywood film 'Confusion Na Wa', taking part in the Sci-Fi-London 48 Hour Film Challenge.. or on fun projects like my homage Halloween video (because I love Halloween that much).
My preferred editing system is Final Cut Pro X.
After taking a break during the pandemic, I most recently have edited for clients such as Wired and Jessica McCormack, and for Howden Group's internal projects. I also transcribe for journalist Nick Kochan.
Currently I can be found settling in on the west coast of Ireland, where I am, in fact, enjoying all that rain, a good cup of tea and chasing after my three children.
